Operation HOPE and Esusu Team Up to Bring Renters Individualized Coaching to Improve Financial Health

In the United States, the core systems that shape financial health - credit scores, savings, debt reduction, investing, and homeownership - are complex, confusing, and often take years of consistent effort to navigate. Financial knowledge is frequently passed down within families, which means people who are not born into financially secure households are less likely to have access to practical financial education and guidance.

Surveys show that 77% of Americans feel anxious about their financial situation, and renters are seven times more likely than homeowners not to have a credit score. That makes it harder to get approved for a mortgage, access first-time homeownership, and build long-term wealth. Outside of family advice, it can be difficult to find high-quality, personalized financial coaching that is both credible and in-depth enough to change financial outcomes.

Esusu is building a renter financial health platform that combines rent reporting and credit building, rent relief, financial resources, and marketplace tools. As part of that effort, Esusu has partnered with Operation HOPE, the nation’s leading nonprofit in financial literacy and economic inclusion, to give renters access to individualized financial coaching and education at no cost.

What renters can access through Operation HOPE

Renters in Esusu properties and with Plus membership can work with Operation HOPE coaches through the Esusu App and related channels. Coaching and education are tailored to each renter’s situation and are offered at no cost to the renter.

Working with a dedicated coach over time, renters can:

  • Reduce debt;
  • Increase savings;
  • Build and improve credit;
  • Create and follow a budget;
  • Review and understand credit reports;
  • And develop clear, actionable financial plans.

Operation HOPE focuses on a wide range of financial topics through one-on-one coaching and group workshops, including:

  • Aspirational goal-setting and needs assessment;
  • Credit, money management, and budgeting;
  • Homeownership preparation and foreclosure prevention;
  • 700-credit-score action plans;
  • Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) awareness;
  • Small business and financial disaster preparation;
  • Support connecting to bank accounts, mortgages, auto and consumer loans, and credit products.

A Proven Model for Improving Financial Health

Operation HOPE has a long track record of helping clients achieve measurable improvements in their financial health. Among thousands of clients who have worked with HOPE coaches, results include:

  • An average 41-point increase in credit scores;
  • More than $1,100 median increase in savings;
  • More than $1,800 median decrease in debt;
  • More than $1 billion in mortgage funding received.

By combining Esusu’s renter financial health platform with Operation HOPE’s financial literacy and coaching expertise, renters get both the tools and the guidance they need to work toward financial stability and generational wealth.

How to access individualized coaching

Esusu users can learn more and get started with 1:1 coaching on the Esusu Financial Coaching page or directly in the Esusu App. From there, renters can connect with Operation HOPE coaches, schedule sessions, and explore workshops that match their financial goals.

It's important to remember that this option is only available to users with Plus membership.

This collaboration is designed to lower the barrier to high-quality financial coaching so more renters can take control of their financial futures and build lasting stability.
