The Esusu Passport: Your Rental Payment History, Simplified

Moving can be stressful. Beyond packing and relocating, renters often have to prove they are reliable to new landlords. A credit score alone does not always tell the full story, which leaves renters with few ways to show a strong history of on-time rent payments. At the same time, property managers are asked to assess financial responsibility with limited information in a short application window.

The Esusu Passport bridges this gap by giving renters and property managers a clear, shareable view of verified rental payment history.

What is the Esusu Passport?

The Esusu Passport is a feature in the Esusu App that gives renters a centralized, easy-to-read view of their rental payment history. Instead of piecing together bank statements or email receipts, renters can quickly show a track record of on-time rent payments in one place.

With the Esusu Passport, renters can:

  • View their rent payment history in a clean, mobile-friendly format;
  • Highlight consistent, on-time payments as part of a rental or mortgage application;
  • Share their rental history securely when it matters most.

Why the Esusu Passport Matters for Renters

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, renters typically move every two to three years. Each move often means starting over with a new application, new screening process, and new questions about reliability. For renters with limited assets or lower credit scores, the lack of a simple way to prove financial responsibility can make this process even more stressful.

The Esusu Passport helps renters:

  • Boost their rental applications: A documented history of on-time rent payments can strengthen applications for new leases and even support mortgage reviews.
  • Build transparency and trust: Sharing a clear, verified rent history helps prospective landlords see more than just a credit score.
  • Stay in control: Renters choose when and with whom to share their payment history. Their data is used to tell their story - not the other way around.

When combined with Esusu’s positive-only rent reporting model, the Passport gives renters one more way to turn everyday payments into a tool for long-term financial health.

How the Esusu Passport Works for Renters

If you live in an Esusu Community or have an Esusu Core membership through the Esusu App, the Passport consolidates your rental payment history into one secure, accessible view.

Instead of:

  • Downloading and sorting months of bank statements;
  • Asking previous landlords for letters or references;

You can:

  • Open the Esusu app;
  • Navigate to your Passport;
  • Share your rental history with a prospective landlord, property manager, or even a lender reviewing a mortgage application.

If there are any missed or partial payments, you can add comments that provide helpful context, such as a documented payment arrangement, a one-time hardship, or a resolved discrepancy.

Most importantly, the Esusu Passport is aligned with Esusu’s “do no harm” approach. Esusu only reports positive rent payments to the credit bureaus, and the Passport is designed to spotlight a renter’s strengths - not to create more stress.

How the Esusu Passport Works for Property Managers

For property managers and owners, the Esusu Passport offers an additional, high-quality signal when screening prospective renters, especially those with:

  • Limited or thin-file credit histories;
  • International backgrounds or recent moves;
  • Unique financial situations that may not be fully reflected in a traditional credit report.

By reviewing a renter’s Passport, property managers can:

  • See a verified log of rental payments over time;
  • Better understand how consistently a renter has paid in previous homes;
  • Make more informed and inclusive decisions, instead of relying solely on credit scores.

Best of all, this added insight is hassle-free. Residents and prospective residents in Esusu-powered communities automatically gain access to the Passport once they create an account in the Esusu App and have at least 90 days of consecutive rent reporting. There is no extra setup or manual data collection required from on-site teams.

How to Get Started With the Esusu Passport

The Esusu Passport is built to make rental history as mobile as the renters it belongs to.

For renters in Esusu communities or with Esusu Core memberships:

  1. Download the Esusu app on your mobile device or log in on desktop;
  2. Create or sign in to your account;
  3. Once you have at least 90 days of consecutive rent reporting, your Passport will begin to populate;
  4. Use your Passport when applying for a new apartment or exploring homeownership to highlight your history of on-time rent payments.
